Bastille Records (Columbia Family) & D Masel Music Entertainment (DME) present the unveiling of the Blue Boy in live concert at University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
In a statement it issued at Nsukka on Thursday, DME said that Obute would be thrilling audience with Afrobeat songs on June 24 at New Art Theatre of the university.
According to the statement signed by DME Media Secretary, Prince Dehclan, Obute, a final year music student of the university, would perform with a live band for the first time on campus stage.
He said Marcel Obute, final year music student, popularly called “Blue Boy – OBO” would be performing his songs, though not released, but was gaining popularity on campus, social media and country at large.
According to the Blue Boy, I would be singing my Afro beats along with some of my music colleagues, for the first time as against the usual classical and contemporary music.
He noted that for several years, the department as a whole supported more of classical and contemporary music but have this time, given me encouragement through some lecturers.
“Afro style of music is taking over the world and our music department needs to accept this fact, I thank some of our lecturers for supporting our secular advancement.
“The mission is to encourage investors and successful artists to push and promote young and talented artists in the industry.
“We have several talents in the country that need assistance to get to the next level because Nigerian musicians have become the pride of the nation internationally,” he said.
The young composer, instrumentalist, flutist, and vocalist said he admired artists like Davido and Kizz Daniel for their style and uniqueness of their music.
“I seriously admire Davido and Kizz Daniel for their support and benevolent spirit of assisting young artists, they have lifted the image of the image of the industry internationally.
“I call on other artists that have excelled to emulate their steps in lifting up other young artists like myself and several others as music has become a major tourist attractions,” he said.
The music student said the concert, scheduled to begin by 6pm with a red carpet would host special guests as DMOB_DC, Iam_Laurenzo, Eve’s Accessories and
Deh Clan D’3rd.
Others include Chris Entertainment, Hype Man Hush puppy,
Commander Fish, South side, Mute Family, Gaga Empire
Stega, and Columbia Chief Priest.
Performing Artists for the concert include, Nelson laz, B_Lyrics, Young C- EFCC, Tino Rexy,
Deep C, Thatboiaibee, Flames and
Ben Sliq.
