All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has cleared 155 aspirants to participate in its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections in Anambra State.
The party approved 48 aspirants for the Senate and House of Representatives tickets, while 107 others were cleared to contest for seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The list of successful aspirants was released on Friday in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, following the conclusion of APGA’s screening exercise.
According to the party, eight aspirants were cleared for the Senate race, while 40 scaled through for the House of Representatives primaries.
APGA directed all successful aspirants to report to the party’s regional office in Awka on Monday, May 18, to collect their nomination forms.
The party also announced that the sale of nomination forms would close on Wednesday, May 20, warning aspirants to complete the process before the deadline.

“The National Working Committee congratulates all successful aspirants and wishes them success as they proceed to the primary elections,” the statement added.
The Senate and House of Representatives primaries have been fixed for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Among the prominent names cleared by the party is former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah, who is contesting for the Anambra North Senatorial ticket.
Also cleared for the same senatorial district is Primus Odili, a former aide to the Anambra State governor.
The development signals the start of what is expected to be a fierce political contest within APGA as the party moves to retain its dominance in Anambra politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
