From Abel Leonard, Lafia

Riots erupted in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, on Friday following the Supreme Court Judgment affirming the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule. The Lafia -Jos road was completely blocked as the protesters set fire to tyres along the road.

Motorists were forced to take alternative routes to get out of the capital.

Shops and business centres, as well as schools within the Lafia metropolis, were forced to close. Security operatives were later deployed in the area, swiftly dispersing the crowds and restoring a semblance of order to the Lafia-Jos road. The visible presence of the military and other security personnel forced the protesters to disband and disperse.

Later on Friday, shops, business centres and other business concerns that were earlier shut reopened their businesses.
