A businessman, Alhaji Isiak Folorunso, has announced plans to seek legal redress against a US-based blogger, Alhaja Sururat Olatanwa Adewumi, over allegations made against him in a viral video.

Speaking at a press conference in Iseyin, Oyo State on Saturday, Folorunso condemned the claims made by Adewumi, who, through her platform Alesh Star Online TV, accused him of sponsoring terrorism in Iseyin and working against the town’s monarch, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I.

Folorunso, the owner of SAF Polytechnic, SAF Group of Schools, and SAF Bread, among other businesses, stated that the allegations were a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation and create discord between him and the Aseyin.

He revealed that he has directed his legal team to take action against Adewumi, including reaching out to relevant authorities in the US. He demanded that she either provide evidence to support her claims or issue a public apology.

“On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, around 7:00 AM, I was informed of a Facebook broadcast by Alhaja Sururat Olatanwa Adewumi, in which she defamed my character, falsely accusing me of sponsoring terrorism—an allegation I categorically deny,” Folorunso stated.

He emphasized that he had never met Adewumi, had no dealings with her, and that she failed to contact him for his side of the story before making such serious accusations.

“As a responsible citizen of Iseyin, I have dedicated resources to the town’s development and am actively involved in committees working for its peace and progress—one of which was formed by the Aseyin himself,” he said.

Folorunso further recounted his participation in events organized by the monarch, including his coronation and the inauguration of the Peace Committee on Islamic Affairs. He also highlighted his ongoing efforts to mediate in the Aso-Ofi weavers’ dispute, which the Aseyin is fully aware of.

“It is therefore highly misleading and malicious for someone in the diaspora to call me a ‘bastard’ of this town,” he said.

Folorunso urged Adewumi to substantiate her claims with evidence or retract her statements publicly. He warned that failure to do so would leave him no choice but to pursue legal action to protect his hard-earned reputation.
