For the umpteenth time, aviation tycoon Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema has once again bested his own exploits. The Chairman of Air Peace has proven to be a distinguished nerve in the business community with his airline brand thriving, and the effects are getting far-reaching. The business he started nine years ago has become the firmament and a leading light in Nigeria’s aviation sector. It is unarguable that Onyema has even earned a name for himself through his visionary contributions to Africa’s airlines business. He has redefined it, stamped his feet and remains a strong authority whose name would be mentioned in glowing terms when the history of those in the sector is being talked about. His airline has maintained its number one position and has not rested on his oars, as Onyema himself continues to spread his wings wider, soaring like an eagle. His record of incisive investment and vision to the sector remains unequal. Where many see difficulty, the genial Onyema sees opportunity and has never let it slide by without grabbing it by the lapel.
Recently, Onyema was conferred with the Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, CIBN at the Institute’s 60th Anniversary Fellowship Investiture for his invaluable contributions to the Institute, the banking industry and the economy at large. While still savouring that honour, the trained lawyer cum businessman hit another unprecedented landmark as his Air Peace finally got a permit to operate the UK and some other European cities routes. This major milestone in Nigeria’s aviation sector has further confirmed Onyema’s audacity to personally take the Nigerian brand to the global market and further polish the country’s image.
