Former world boxing heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has complimented Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on raising an amazing and intelligent daughter.
The British-Nigerian boxer said this when he met the governor in Abeokuta, the state capital on Monday.
A video of the meeting was shared on social media.
Joshua, whose parent hails from Ogun State, can be seen sharing a handshake and hug with the governor who affectionately pats him on the back.
“You have an amazing daughter you know. Very intelligent,” Joshua can be heard telling the governor, who thanked him for the compliment.
Joshua is in Nigeria for the festive season alongside his son, JJ.
On his reason for bringing his son to Nigeria, the Watford-born boxer said it was to connect JJ to his Nigerian roots.
“Not only did I come myself it is important for this generation of children,” the 35-year-old said.
“It’s not only for me or for my own selfish reasons to enjoy ‘Detty December’; it’s also for the kids to know they are sons of the soil.”
Meanwhile, Abiodun declared Joshua Ogun sports ambassador and named a boxing ring in Abeokuta Stadium after him.
