For ace TV producer, Tunji Fatilewa creativity is second nature and the same runs in the family. When his son, Tolani, took to music, not many people were taken aback. The 21-year-old graduate of Economics from Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo’s love for music is traceable to his secondary school days. According to the Afrobeat musician, he recorded his first song as a 15-year-old.
Inspired by the legend, the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti only recently, Tolani, released a song entitled, No Yawa (No Qualms).
According to him, the song, which is enjoying airplay in some radio stations in Lagos, was prompted by the current socio-economic realities in the country and the need for the youths to brace up for the challenges. He wondered why his colleagues should be writhing in frustration amid the begging opportunities around them.
The artiste submits, No Yawa is the antidote needed by the beleaguered youths.
The keyboardist who adopted his name, Tolani for the stage is miffed by the Nigerian system which gives little or no room to up and coming talents to showcase their stuff. Backed by a veteran producer of a dad, and a solid management team, Tolani’s dream is to further bridge the yawning gap between the older and the younger generations of Afrobeat musicians.
