The operations also resulted in the rescue of 11 kidnapped victims in two separate encounters with bandits in Kebbi State, while troops intervened in a farmers-herders’ clash in Plateau State to prevent further violence.
An operational report yesterday said troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion, Forward Operating Base (FOB), Bama Local Government, Borno, repelled an ISWAP attack on October 29.
The terrorists reportedly launched the attack at about 9:05 p.m. but were forced to retreat in disarray following an exchange of gunfire with the troops.
The troops recovered one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bomb, one machine gun solenoid, one AK-47 magazine and 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
In another operation, troops of the Nigerian Army Landing Craft (NBLC), in collaboration with the 403 Amphibious Brigade, neutralised six terrorists during a precision drone strike on an insurgent enclave in Dumba, Kukawa LGA, Borno State.
The report said the operation was conducted on October 30 following intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions that identified the terrorists’ location.
Preliminary battle damage assessment indicated that six terrorists were killed, while several others sustained injuries.
“Further battle damage assessment was ongoing to establish the full impact of the strike,” the report stated.
In Benue State, troops of Sector 1, Operation WHIRL STROKE, working with local vigilantes, arrested seven suspected terrorist collaborators at Agu Centre, Ugande, Katsina-Ala LG .
The suspects were apprehended at about 10:35 a.m. on October 30 and taken into custody for further investigation.
The report further disclosed that troops of the 103 Battalion (Main), under the Joint Task Force South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, uncovered three illegal refining sites in Okarki Forest, Ahoada West LG, Rivers State.
The operation, conducted on October 30, led to the discovery of three drum ovens, three coolants, a reservoir, a plastic bucket, three pipes measuring about 20 metres and 81 sacks of suspected stolen crude oil.
The stolen crude oil was estimated at 4,212 litres, while the recovered items were handled in accordance with extant regulations.
In Plateau State, troops of Sector 5, Operation ENDURING PEACE, intervened in a clash between farmers and herders at Malul village, Bokkos LG, on October 31.
The clash reportedly occurred when herders allegedly attempted to forcefully access farmland while farmers were harvesting their crops.
The troops subsequently dominated the area to prevent further confrontation and possible reprisal attacks.
The military said the operations demonstrated its sustained commitment to combating terrorism, criminality, economic sabotage and other security threats across the country.
