For Afro-Soul singer-songwriter Emmi Edwin, her debut extended play (EP), Lavender Letters, celebrates love, healing, personal growth and human connection.
Released on October 23, the 7-tracker draws from personal experiences and emotional reflections, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into the themes that shape the emerging artiste’s music.
A member of the CBA for Africa cohort, Edwin was born and raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, but she’s of Akwa Ibom origin. Edwin’s musical journey began in the church choir, where she developed an appreciation for melody and harmony that continues to influence her sound.
The artiste combines guitar-led arrangements, soft percussion and layered harmonies, creating a soulful music that places emphasis on lyrical expression and storytelling.
Drawing inspiration from her Ibibio heritage and Southern Nigerian root, Edwin explores a range of emotions and experiences, including love, loneliness, courage, family, healing and self-discovery. Through Lavender Letters, she continues to shape her artistic identity with understated instrumentation and emotionally driven songwriting.
Before the release of her debut EP, Edwin built her catalogue with singles including Ima, released in 2026, Peace in 2024, One Day and Stay, both released in 2023.
She has also performed at several events, including The Mayor of Pitakwa Show in 2025, Port Harcourt Photo Festival in 2023, Johnny’s Room Live and Female Founders Circle in 2024.
With Lavender Letters, Edwin introduces a body of work that reflects her musical influences and personal journey. The EP is now available on major music streaming platforms.
