From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja
The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended warm Eid al-Fitr greetings to Abuja residents, particularly the Muslim community, while calling for sustained peace and unity as Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections.
In his message, he personally signed, the minister congratulated Muslims on completing the Ramadan fast, describing the holy month as “a period of spiritual rejuvenation, self-reflection, and renewal.” He urged residents to “carry forward the values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity that Ramadan embodies.”
The minister highlighted the spirit of sharing witnessed in Abuja during Ramadan, noting that “individuals and corporate organisations have, by their conduct during this holy month, demonstrated their commitment and cooperation towards maintaining Abuja’s pride of place as the Centre of Unity, Peace and Harmony in Nigeria.”
Looking ahead, Wike assured residents that the FCT Administration would provide a conducive environment for political activities preceding the 2027 polls. “In the coming weeks, campaigns are expected to begin nationwide ahead of Nigeria’s general elections in 2027. Being the Centre of Government, the Federal Capital Territory would witness a beehive of activities around this period. Be assured that the FCT Administration will continue to provide an environment conducive for the orderly hosting of all political events,” he stated.
