Veteran pianist, composer, musician and bandleader of Age of Aquarius, Duro Ikujenyo, will on Wednesday, September 2 mark his 70th birthday with a show tagged: ‘Monumental Concert Series of Global Peace’.
The concert, which will take place in Lagos, would also be an opportunity for the iconic artiste to unveil his culture advocacy group and a recording label that is currently handling his prime project ‘100 Years of Nigerian Music’.

Also in commemoration of the milestone, the former Fela Anikulapo-Kuti band member will unveil his landmark 12-track album titled Peace of Mind.
Produced under New Age Productions in collaboration with leading advocacy groups and Nigerian recording label cultural organizations, the ‘Duro @70’ project serves as a call for national economic growth, political harmony, and global peace.
According to Ikujenyo, the historical initiative, 100 Years of Nigerian Popular Music (1925–2027) is an archival display of rare photos, original musical notation, and literature tracking the evolution of highlife, Afrobeat and contemporary sounds.
“The 70th birthday celebration revolves around my newly completed 12-track studio album and a suite of four promotional video releases such as Perfection, Samba, Tribute to Fela, and Everybody Likes to Hear Good Music,” the celebrant said.
Rooted in rich Afro-Jazz instrumentation, these tracks provide a sonic antidote to global unrest, political instability and economic hardship – offering what Ikujenyo described as “New Age blueprint for human resilience and mental rejuvenation.”
“Today’s world faces unprecedented turmoil, but music remains the ultimate medium to restore peace of mind and inspire systemic solutions. Duro @70 is not just a personal milestone, it is a platform for unity, historic preservation and national restoration,” he stated.
The ‘Duro@70’ celebration transcends a standard music concert; it incorporates a holistic celebration of the mind, body and soul. The ‘Peace of Mind’ concert residencies will feature the Age of Aquarius ensemble and veteran guest artistes.
The activities marking Kujenyo’s 70th birthday include Body & Soul Sessions, a guided wellness walk, lifestyle fashion showcase, and visual art exhibition. Also, there will be audio-visual screenings comprising exclusive listening parties and video premieres across major cultural hubs in Lagos.
Detailed venue schedules, partner announcements, and public access details for the upcoming Lagos residency will be released soon.
