  • inaugurates 7-member committee to address challenge

From Fred Ezeh, Abuja

Federal Government has reaffirmed its position on bullying in schools, restating that it has zero-tolerance for bullying in Nigerian schools, and won’t hesitate to unleashed punitive measures against anyone or schools.

To this end, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, inaugurated a seven-member committee in Abuja, to address bullying incidences in all Nigeria schools, thus reinforcing commitment of government to student welfare and a safe learning environment.

The Minister said the committee is expected to review reported cases of bullying and ensure swift action, thereby, complementing the 21-member team working on a National Policy on Anti-Bullying.

He challenged the committee members to take the task seriously, and produce an outcome that will herald the expected solutions for growing bullying in schools.

He reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying, urging school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to support this initiative.

The Minister maintained that the move aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing education as a driver of national development.
