Former Chief of Staff and frontline Imo politician, Uche Nwosu, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu over the directive mandating the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) to remit all revenues into the Federation Account before any spending.
Nwosu, who spoke in Abuja, described the move as a landmark fiscal reform that would enthrone transparency and restore public trust in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
“For years, Nigerians have demanded clarity in the management of petroleum revenues. This decision creates room for proper scrutiny and institutional oversight,” he said.
He noted that the policy would curb excesses and finally address lingering concerns over how oil revenues are handled and remitted.

According to him, President Tinubu had demonstrated boldness and reform-oriented leadership by taking what he called a decisive and forward-looking step.
“This shows Mr. President is committed to doing things differently. It strengthens our institutions and promotes fiscal discipline,” he stated.
He added that effective implementation of the directive would boost macroeconomic planning, improve revenue projections and enhance fiscal harmony among federal, state and local governments.
While commending the President for what he termed a courageous action, he urged the administration to sustain the momentum in pursuing transparency-driven reforms across critical sectors of the economy.
“Nigeria will benefit greatly from such decisive and accountable leadership,” he said.
