The Suspension of passenger/freight train services has snowballed from Lagos to Kano narrow gauge to Warri-Itakpe, Abuja-Kaduna standard gauge and more recently Aba-Port-Harcourt narrow gauge passenger train services.
While the long standing suspension Lagos to Kano passenger/freight train services were ascribed to lack of functional locomotive engines and vandalism at some sections along the corridor, management of the corporation in separate statements attributed the recent ones: Warri-Itakpe (Standard gauge) and Aba-Port-Harcourt (Narrow gauge) to the need for routine maintenance.
In all cases, management appealed to customers to bear with the corporation as safety concerns of passengers/goods remain paramount promising that services in the aforementioned railway corridors especially Warri-Itakpe and Aba-Port-Harcourt will resume this week.
