The Osun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into one of its officers alleged to have assaulted a lounge owner, Adeyemi Ayomide, in Osogbo.
Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the investigation yesterday, assuring the public that justice would be served impartially.
“We are just aware of the matter. In fact, I was informed about the incident on Friday, and upon returning to the office on Monday, I made inquiries. The authority has decided to conduct a full-scale investigation,” Ojelabi stated.
According to Ayomide, the incident occurred on October 31st around 5:30 p.m. when a man, later identified as a police officer, came to his lounge and had a disagreement with one of his staff. Ayomide attempted to mediate the situation but was met with hostility.

He recounted, “When I approached, I asked what was happening. I told my staff to return to their duties because customers were waiting. The man insisted that the staff should not leave. I explained that if there was an issue, he should speak to the manager.”
After leaving the area, Ayomide reported that the officer returned with three others, one of whom was in police uniform. “They pointed at me and demanded that I sit on the floor. I asked what I had done wrong. When I refused, they forcibly pushed me into a police vehicle and took me to the state CID.”
At the CID, Ayomide learned that the man was a police officer and claimed that he was assaulted by the officer and his colleagues. “They took me to the anti-robbery squad, where they demanded I remove my clothes and slippers. I was beaten without being informed of my offense,” he alleged.
Describing the assault, Ayomide stated, “They began to beat me with a stick and a cutlass. I was asking them what my offense was, but they continued to hit me without explanation.”
