A total of 2,062 2025 Batch ‘A’ (stream I) corps members deployed to Abuja (spillover) and Kaduna State by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday officially began their 21-day orientation course at Government College, Kurmi Marshi, Kaduna.
The 21-day orientation course is one of the four cardinal objectives of the national service. Others are place of primary assignment, community development service and passing out parade.
Declaring the orientation camp open on Friday, the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani expressed immense gratitude for their safe arrival and congratulated them on the successful completion of their academic programmes, which qualified them for national service.
Represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, the governor described the Orientation Course as a platform to instill leadership skills and personal growth, urging corps members to actively participate in camp activities, particularly the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
He assured them that their safety remains a top priority of his administration while emphasizing the need for vigilance and collective responsibility in security matters.
The Governor also expressed confidence in the ability of the corps members to make meaningful contributions to the development of the state and the nation.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the scheme in the State, Mrs. Efeke Murna Dadaza, reported the successful registration of prospective corps members who had shown discipline and a positive attitude since their arrival at the camp.
Mrs. Dadaza encouraged the corps members to make the most of their posting to Kaduna State, describing it as a divine blessing and an opportunity to make a positive impact.
She emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and active participation in all camp activities, while also appreciating the unwavering support of the Kaduna State Government to the NYSC scheme.
She pledged continued collaboration in the empowerment of Nigerian youth as the largest youth mobilization organization in Nigeria with average of 300,000 young Nigerian graduates passing through it yearly.
