A Lagos-based businesswoman, Adeyinka Igbinoba, has commended the police for what she described as thorough investigations of the case between her and Saheed Mosadoluwa, also known as Ibile and, by extension, Sade Gbadamosi, the developer of Amen Estate.
Igbinoba had alleged that Mosadoluwa and his boys pounced on her in his Lagos office while she was there to retrieve her money paid to him for land she later lost interest in.
The incident, which happened almost 10 months ago, was said to have left Igbinoba with a broken leg. She said she has been crying for justice ever since.
Though the accused, while speaking with the reporter, denied inflicting any injury on Igbinoba, the police have said otherwise.
In a press release signed by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Abuja, he noted the police have concluded investigations into a petition against the owners of Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited and Amen Estate, Saheed Abdullahi Mosadoluwa (aka Ibile) and Ms. Sade Balogun, respectively.
According to Adejobi, “The result of the investigations shows clearly that the police carried out a laudable investigation worthy of commendation in the absence of sentiments and the duo are to be prosecuted by the Lagos State government, contrary to the news making the rounds”.
Adejobi disclosed the falsehood being peddled “is due to the fact that their (culprits) frantic and unrelenting efforts to subdue and pervert justice were squashed by the police, as we stand by justice under the present leadership of the force. The Attorney-General of Lagos State will be prosecuting the matter before the courts, as soon as possible, on request by the Lagos State government and whomsoever has any reservations as to the police investigation is at liberty to express such before the court.
“The case commenced through a petition by Igbinoba, on March 21, 2022, received at the office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, and endorsed to the IGP Monitoring Unit to investigate.
“In the petition, the petitioner claimed that her sisters, Bunmi Okoror, a lawyer, and Abiodun Abdul, requested for a refund of an initial deposit of N30 million made to Saheed Abdullahi Mosadoluwa (aka Ibile) in respect of some parcels of land in Lekki, Lagos, claiming that the issued certificate of occupancy was fake, and they subsequently reported the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
“In the course of the back and forth to recover the said sum of money, the petitioner, Igbinoba, with her siblings Bunmi Okoror and Abiodun Abdul, and their mother, Mrs. Abdul Beckely, along with their driver, attended a scheduled meeting in the office of Mosadoluwa at Landbook office, Eleganza Plaza, opposite Ikole Complex, Ajah, Lagos, who had clearly emphasized that he would only refund the paid sum in full when they withdrew the case from the EFCC.
At the meeting, they met Mr. Saheed, his agent, Mr. Kolawole Opeodu, and two other men. It was alleged that the meeting became heated and led to a serious altercation where Mosadoluwa hit the petitioner with a carved wooden object leading to a serious fracture on her right ankle.
“It is equally pertinent to mention that Ms. Sade Balogun, owner of Amen Estate where the petitioner resides, acting on her friendship with Mr. Saheed, restrained the petitioner from accessing her property.”
He disclosed detailed investigation into the petition has successfully addressed the three salient issues.
“Firstly, a response to police request from the office of the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Lands, Lagos dated May 23, ascertained the ownership of the land but did not confirm or deny any encumbrances on it as requested.
“Secondly, there exists circumstantial evidence in form of audio recordings substantiating the claim that Mosadoluwa caused grievous harm on the petitioner as she sustained the fracture to her right ankle between the corridor and the staircase leading to the suspect’s office which has been operated upon and renders the complainant incapacitated on crutches.
“Finally, the conduct of Ms. Sade Gbadamosi in restraining the petitioner from accessing her property constitutes a breach of the petitioner’s fundamental rights and is likely to cause breach of peace.”
Igbinoba expressed her appreciation to the Attorney General of Lagos, the IGP and all the incorruptible police officers for their thorough investigation and selfless service in discharging their duties.
“The Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the current Inspector General Of Police Usman Alkali Baba have once again proven that the Nigerian Police Force can be extremely thorough and incorruptible. For once, I can see a better and believe that Nigeria will be great again.
“ I wholeheartedly commend the Inspector General of Police, the Police officers at the IG Monitoring Unit, all officers in IGP’s office and the FPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi for standing up for what is just and right. These officers have given me hope and I will continue to hold on to that hope.
“I’m delighted to know that the Nigerian justice system still works and to know that Sade Gbadamosi and Saheed Mosadoluwa couldn’t bribe their way through the Nigerian system, it gives me hope to know that they couldn’t suppress the cause of justice.
“The road to justice in Nigeria may yet be rigorous and tedious, but we shouldn’t ever let that deter any of us, if not, we will be left with a country full of criminals.
“I’m grateful to the Nigeria Police Force, the Lagos State Ministry of Justice for standing up to seek justice on my behalf. I thank God that I survived Mosadoluwa’s attack and for giving me the courage to seek justice and for not relenting. I pray that justice will not only be done but will be seen to be done as in this case.
“It’s important I set the record straight and shed more light on the recently released Police Investigation Report on Mosadoluwa and Gbadamosi.
“The matter was originally reported at Ajuwe Police Station, Ajah being the jurisdiction of the incident which was at Mosadoluwa’s office, Landbook properties, opposite VGC Ajah. Gbadamosi and Mosadoluwa transfered the case from Ajuwe Police Station to Force CID Alagbon with no justifiable reason. Mosadoluwa was called to appear before the DPO, Ajuwe Police Station, instead of him to honour the invite, he pulled strings and transferred the case to Alagbon where they tossed me up and down but I realised they were all doing Saheed and Gbadamosi’s bidding.
“Distraught and frustrated, I wrote a petition to the Attorney General of Lagos and Commissioner for Justice, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, the Women Affairs Commission, the Inspector General of Police, the Human Right Commission and Attorney General of the Federation seeking for Justice.
“The Attorney General of Lagos and the Inspector General Of Police responded swiftly to my petition. The police from IG monitoring Unit, Abuja conducted its investigation for five months, leaving no stone unturned and submitted their investigation report to the Lagos State Ministry of Justice,” she said.
