Igbo culture comes alive as Enyioha becomes Eze Ndigbo of Ibeju Lekki

Ibeju Lekki area in Lagos State recently erupted into joy at the coronation of Eze Chuks Apachi Enyioha as Eze Igbo Ozurumba 1 of Lekki, Lagos, by  Igbo Speaking Community, under the chairmanship of Chief Sunday Udeh (Onwa Ndigbo).

The event attracted people from all walks of life, who thronged the venue to cheer the new Eze.

In his remarks, Udeh described the new Enyioha as an illustrious Igbo son who has made Ndigbo in Lagos and the Diaspora proud through his philanthropy and empowerment of the less privileged.

While charging the new Igbo leader to use his ezeship to promote Igbo culture, Udeh said Igbo language was under threat hence Enyioha must do all in his power to project and promote the culture and language within Lekki and environs.

“I also urge you to continue your service to humanity by empowering the less privileged, especially widows and the elderly. If you do this, God Almighty will bless this throne, and His favour will shine on you,” he prayed.

In his response, Enyioha thanked the Igbo community for finding him worthy to be coronated as Eze Ndigbo in Lekki. He assured them of his determination to promote Igbo culture in Lekki, and urged Ndigbo to always speak the language in all their meetings and gatherings so as to ensure that the language does not go into extinction.

Enyioha also commended the government of Lagos State under Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for making the state peaceful and conducive for businesses to thrive. He assured the governor that Ndigbo in Lekki would continue to be law-abiding by cooperating with their host community.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of certificate of ezeship to Enyioha by Udeh.
