Newcastle United fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in Saturday’s Premier League clash at St James’ Park.

Bournemouth made a fast start, taking the lead in the ninth minute through Marcus Tavernier.

Their advantage was doubled in the 35th minute when Newcastle defender Malick Thiaw turned the ball into his own net.

Newcastle responded before half-time, with Harvey Barnes reducing the deficit in the 37th minute with a fine finish to make it 2-1.

The hosts pushed for an equaliser after the break and were eventually rewarded in the 88th minute when substitute Jacob Ramsey found the net to level the score at 2-2.

The result means Newcastle remain unbeaten at the start of the Premier League season, while Bournemouth are still searching for their first league victory.

The draw will feel like a missed opportunity for Bournemouth, who had built a two-goal advantage but failed to hold on to their lead.
