The Honourable Minister of Arts, Tourism, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hanatu Musawa, officially commissioned the Enugu Christmas Village on Saturday, December 7th.

Hanatu was assisted by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mba. The grand event marked the commencement of the Enugu Christmas Festival, a 25-day celebration designed to bring joy and entertainment to the region.

The inauguration drew a diverse crowd, including Enugu State residents, neighboring visitors, and guests from various walks of life, all eager to experience the magic of the season.

At the heart of the Christmas Village is a dazzling display of 500,000 Christmas lights, casting a warm glow over the enchanting attractions. Visitors can also enjoy a wide range of activities, including a waterpark, roller skating, archery, amusement rides, and much more. This vibrant hub, facilitated by Omu Resort—renowned for promoting tourism in Africa—sets the stage for an unforgettable holiday experience.

The Enugu Christmas Festival is more than a celebration of the season; it showcases the state’s rich cultural heritage and its growing appeal as a tourist destination. Highlighting the festival are signature events such as: Afrobeat Concert, Praise Night, Highlife Concert, Street Carnival, Cultural Parade and a Grand Fireworks Show.

Adding a heartwarming touch to the festivities is the “Santa Street Storm,” where over 100 Santas on tricycles will spread joy across the state, delivering gifts to orphanages and the less privileged.

Having kicked off on December 7th, the chain of events planned for the festival will run until December 31st, 2024, offering a perfect blend of entertainment, culture, and community spirit. The Enugu Christmas Festival provides families and friends a chance to unwind while celebrating the holiday season in a uniquely Enugu style.
