GKS award bursaries to three Lagos youths

The Lagos Chapter of the League of Freedomites of the God’s Kingdom Society (GKS) has presented bursary awards to three outstanding students.

The awards valued at N100, 000 were presented to the students at the special thanksgiving service to marked the grand finale of the week-long 2025 Annual Youth Assembly in Lagos.

President of the Church, Felix Ekundayo Adedokun, said the award was designed to support outstanding students acquire education.

He confirmed that the award, now in its 10th year, has supported numerous students who have gone on to graduate with distinction and urged other youths to embrace purposeful living and spiritual diligence.

In a message, titled “Labour Not for the Meat That Perisheth,” Adedokun emphasized the importance of focusing on values that enrich the soul rather than worldly pursuits.

Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the League of Freedomites, Prof. Chris Osegenwume, in his remarks stated that the initiative was designed to encourage hard work, deepen commitment to God’s service, and raise a generation of young people who embody the values of excellence, integrity, and faith.

He announced the beneficiaries as Olukowade Olujimi Samson, a Systems Engineering student at the University of Lagos from Shogunle Branch; David Duoyo Ekisowei and Deborah Ekiyokeye Ekisowei of Apapa Branch, both undergraduates at the Federal University, Otuoke.

Ekisowei is in the Department of Chemistry, while Ekiyokeye is pursuing History and International Studies.

Prof. Osegenwume explained that recipients were selected on the basis of academic excellence, active membership in the Lagos zone of the Church, and outstanding character.

He commended the 2025 beneficiaries, urged other youths to emulate their commitment, and also advised the awardees to remain worthy ambassadors of the Church and the League.

To qualify for subsequent opportunities, candidates must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 or above, verified by their respective heads of department, and they must also be at 200 level or higher in their studies.
