The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has mourned the passing of the Akran of Badagry, His Royal Majesty, Oba Aholu Menu-Toyi I, describing the late monarch as a symbol of wise and benevolent leadership whose reign strengthened unity, culture and development in Badagry and beyond.
In a condolence message, Adams expressed deep sorrow over the monarch’s death, extending his sympathies to the royal family, the people of Badagry, the Lagos State Government and Nigerians at large.
He said the news of Oba Menu-Toyi’s death came as a great shock, noting that the monarch’s dedication to the preservation of Badagry’s cultural heritage and his efforts at promoting peace and unity among his people left a lasting impact on the ancient town.
According to Adams, the late Akran was deeply committed to fostering harmony and safeguarding traditional values, a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
“In this time of sorrow, we stand with the royal family, the Badagry Traditional Council and all the people of Badagry, sharing in their grief and loss. We pray that the Almighty grants them strength and comfort,” Adams said.
