The Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Foundation (EAF) over the weekend organised an Endometriosis Awareness March in Ondo, Ondo State to mark the global Endometriosis Awareness Month.
The awareness walk, led by the foundation’s founder, Olabimpe Fapohunda, drew supporters, volunteers and members of the public who turned out in solidarity with women and girls living with the condition.
Participants began the march from the EAF office on Ademulegun Road and moved through major parts of Ondo Town including Ife Garage Roundabout, Lisaluwa, NCI, General Road, Okelisa, Odotu, Town Hall, Oke-Aluko and Surulere.
Along the route, volunteers interacted with residents, distributed educational brochures and sensitised the public about endometriosis, its symptoms and the importance of early detection.
Speaking during the event, Fapohunda said the march was organised to break the silence surrounding the condition and encourage women experiencing severe menstrual pain and other related symptoms to seek medical attention.

According to her, many women live with endometriosis for years without a diagnosis because society often dismisses menstrual pain as normal.
“Endometriosis is real and it affects the daily lives of countless women and girls. Many suffer in silence because they believe the pain they feel is something they must endure,” she said.
Fapohunda noted that raising awareness is crucial in helping families; communities and healthcare providers understand the condition and provide the needed support.
She added that early diagnosis and proper medical care could significantly improve the quality of life of those affected.
“We want people to understand that when a woman complains of severe menstrual pain, she should not be ignored or judged. She deserves to be listened to and supported. Awareness is the first step toward compassion and proper healthcare,” she said.
