Tottenham Hotspur were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday, leaving Roberto De Zerbi’s side still searching for their first Premier League goal of the season.

Spurs have now failed to score in their opening three league matches of the campaign, the first time they have suffered such a barren start since 1980.

Tottenham had already lost to Brentford and Newcastle in their opening two league fixtures, increasing the pressure on De Zerbi following a summer transfer window in which the club spent almost £400 million.

Forest came close to taking all three points when Neco Williams bundled the ball into the net from close range. However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR review found that the Forest defender had used his hand.

The result means Tottenham remain without a league win and, more significantly, without a goal after three matches.

Forest, meanwhile, earned a point after previously drawing 2-2 with Liverpool in their last league outing.

The draw will do little to ease concerns surrounding Spurs’ attacking struggles, with De Zerbi now facing increased pressure to find a solution to his side’s lack of goals.
