The PowerUp Entrepreneurship Program 5.0, a collaborative initiative by Access Corporation and NerdzFactory Foundation, has empowered 500 young Nigerians with entrepreneurial skills. Running from July 29 to August 10, 2024, the program bridged the gap between ideation and actualisation, equipping participants to build and sustain businesses in an evolving economic landscape.
Adopting a hybrid training model of physical and virtual sessions, the program was designed for a diverse audience, including final-year students, graduates, unemployed youth, NYSC corps members, and aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. Special focus was given to young women aged 18-35, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and gender empowerment.
The initiative featured key components such as the PowerUp webinar, bootcamp, and demo-day, offering participants a well-rounded learning experience. Sessions covered vital entrepreneurial areas, including digital marketing, financial management, business planning, branding, and pitch deck creation. Participants also gained insights into generating business funds and crafting sustainable business models.
Ade’ Olowojoba, Director at NerdzFactory Foundation, emphasised the importance of equipping Nigeria’s youth with entrepreneurial skills, describing the program as a platform for identifying opportunities and fostering resilience. The initiative promised benefits such as increased youth participation in entrepreneurship, access to funding, enhanced collaboration and networking, and job creation. By shaping innovative thinkers and providing mentorship and resources, the PowerUp entrepreneurship program 5.0 has positioned itself as a cornerstone in Nigeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The program’s success marks a significant step toward empowering a new generation of entrepreneurs to drive innovation and economic growth.
