Super Falcons and ALG Spor Kulubu of Turkey defender Glory Ogbonna, have cautioned against under rating Nigeria’s opponents at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria has been pitched against the Republic of Ireland, Australia and Canada in Group B for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

In a chat with Daily SunSports from her base in Turkey, Ogbonna, described the Group B pairing as a tricky one that should not be waved aside, insisting that it would be foolhardy to undermine the potentials of Republic of Ireland and Australia.

“People have been saying that the group is easy. I don’t see it that way; to me it is a tricky group because we have not played both Australia and Republic of Ireland before.

“I don’t see them as easy teams to play; besides we don’t know much about them. Maybe because Ireland and Australia are not well known, that is why people are saying it is an easy group.

“Canada being in the group are familiar foes. I know them to be good because we have played international friendlies with them.

“Also, any country that found their way to the World Cup surely is a strong contender for the trophy because they qualified from their region to get to the world stage.

“To me football is all about mindset, when you enter the pitch with the winning mindset, you get the job done and we have to continue our preparations for the tournament because I can’t wait for the tournament to start.”

Ogbonna, who penned a deal with ALG this year, is delighted that her team recorded a fantastic 4-0 away victory against Karadeniz in a Turkish league match.
