The member of the House of Representatives, representing Ezza South/ Ikwo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Chinedu Ogah, has said the security measures put in place in Amasiri community by Governor Francis Nwifuru is aimed at restoring peace in the area.

Amasiri and Oso Edda, in Edda Local Government Area have been locked in a land dispute. Recently, there was an attack on Oso, leading to the reported killing and beheading of victims in the area.
Therefore, the Ebonyi State governor imposed a curfew in Amasiri, amongst other measures. However, the governor’s action has generated mixed reactions.
However, the lawmaker explained that the actions of the governor was aimed at restoring peace in the troubled area. According to him, the imposition of a curfew in the affected area was a necessary security measure aimed at preventing further violence. He explained that the curfew has since been relaxed as peace has returned.
“Before the inauguration of this governor, nearly 10 communities were engaged in various communal clashes. Today, those conflicts have largely been resolved due to proactive engagement and people-centred governance.
