A Group under the Berom Coalition Movement (BCM) in Plateau state said illustrious sons and daughters from the ethnic nationality have enjoyed reasonable appointments both at the National, State and Local Government levels under the APC administration.

In a press statement on Friday in Jos, signed by its Leader, Mr. Francis Jamang and Chairman, Mr. Bulus Yakubu called for support to all APC candidates ahead of the polls.

It noted that on the inception of the administration in Plateau, the Lalong administration appointed Hon. Rufus Bature, a Berom as the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, and now the State Chairman of the APC in the state.

“After careful assessment of the political atmosphere and manifestoes of all the presidential candidates, the Berom Coalition Movement is here by endorsing the candidacy of Sen. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Send. Kashim Shetima for 2023 presidential election.

“Also, looking at the credibility of Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda and Hon. Pam Botmang, their articulated vision, outlined programmes, and documented plans all lumped in the highly acclaimed ACEES agenda for Plateau State and comparing it that of other contestants to the seat of Governor in Plateau State, we are left with no choice than to endorse the Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe and Pam Bot Mang ticket in the 11” March, 2023 Gubernatorial elections. 

“We are also calling on all Berom; with a strong voice to vote for the duo as the Berom Nation stands to achieve a lot more when they are elected as Governor and Deputy Governor of Plateau State respectively. Other Candidates on the APC tickets contesting in the various Berom constituencies have also been considered worthy of endorsements and are hereby also endorsed by this Coalition.”

The statement added, “The APC government in 2015 appointed Hon. Rufus Bature as Secretary to the Government of Plateau State and appointed a Berom sons and daughters as Federal Commissioner, Federal Civil Service Commission; Executive Secretary,Nigerian Christians Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), National Commissioner, INEC North Central;  National Commissioner, Petroleum Up Stream; Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity;  Managing Director Nigeria Airspace Management Agency and Federal High Court Judge, Port Harcourt among others at the Federal level.”

The group noted that several Commissioners and Members of the Plateau State Executive Council, Heads of Parastatals, Agencies and Departments of Government at the sub-National level and many of our sons and daughters occupied high positions on the Federal State boards.

The statement said that the Berom stand the chance of benefitting more if APC form the next government, as it will have the Deputy Governor and so many juicy positions.
