The Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, has reiterated her commitment to promoting the core values of integrity, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption in the accounting profession.
According to a statement issued by her Spokesperson, Bawa Mokwa on Thursday, Madein made the pledge during a courtesy visit by the 60th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dr. Davidson Alaribe, and his team to her office in Abuja.
The AGF noted the need for her to uphold professional accounting standards, revealing that 70% of OAGF staff are accountants.
She assured ICAN of her continued partnership in fostering robust and transparent accounting practices, given the shared mandates of both organisations.
“I will maintain integrity , ethics and core values of the Accounting profession as well as to welcome all criticisms and recognition in the accounting practices” Madein disclosed,” she said.
Alaribe in his earlier address stated that their mission for the courtesy call is to appreciate the AGF of her Motherly role and support that she extended to the Institute during the last ICAN Conference.
The ICAN President acknowledged that the crucial role the Accountant General is playing towards shaping the accounting profession particularly the reactivation of Federal Treasury Academy in Orozo ,Abuja is worth recommending.
Alaribe revealed that ICAN has been into rendering assistance to Accountants with the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira only (N500,000) as scholarship to those that are ready to acquired more Accounting profession to PHD Level.
