In commemoration of her forthcoming 50th anniversary on Sunday, the members of Jesus is Light Ministries, Agodo Egbe, in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State on Wednesday, visited the children in SOS Village Isolo Lagos with various food items.

The items they donated include bags of rice, noodles, groundnut oil, soaps, disinfectants, biscuits etc.

General Overseer of Ministries, Pastor (Mrs), Emily Morenike Ola Ojo said the visit was part of the programmes lined up on the church’s golden jubilee.

She expressed joy that she is alive to witness the golden jubilee of the church, though her husband, the founder, is no more.
“After the death of my husband, leaders of the church asked me to step into his shoes, and I am very happy that they have been there with me.”

Ola Ojo explained that in some cases, churches collapse at the demise of the General Overseers, but expressed happiness that the case of Jesus is Light Ministries is not like that
.
She said that they were at SOS Village to give food items and other materials for the upkeep of children in the village.
“We are here to reach out to the children in this village, because is part of our duties to take care of those in need in the society. So, we are using the opportunity of our church”s 50th anniversary to give some items to them.
“This is the second time we are coming here to share part of we have with them, and we are happy to do that because we are very much interested in them.”

She commended the care-givers at the SOS Village for taking good care of those in dare need of parental care.
“You see, it is not easy to do what you do here. Many of the children out there who do not have the opportunity the children in this village have, end up smoking Indian hemps and engage in other immortal acts. But with what we see here, the difference is clear.
“So, the children here should be grateful enough for the opportunities they have.”

Ola Ojo called on other individuals or organisations to learn how to give out to those in need.
“We need to allow the spirit of God to dwell in us, by imbibing the spirit of giving to the less privileged among us, so that their lives will be better.”

The Jesus is Light Ministries General Overseer called on all to attend the church’s 50th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service holding on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 10 am in order to witness other anniversary activities.

Receiving the gifts, the Local and International Sponsorship Advisor of SOS, Mrs Scholastica Ashiegbu thanked the leaders of Jesus is Light Ministries for their kind gesture and magnanimous spirit.

She explained that the SOS children are no longer staying in the premises because they need sense of belonging. “We have found out that the SOS children need freedom like other children outside. It seems they are being restricted. They sign in and out, while our own children do not do so when they want to go out.
“So, we want them to know what is happening outside like other children, without constraints. They also need sense of belonging, that is why we kept them outside the home , but with close monitoring.”

She promised that the organization is working hard towards giving children in the village, a wholistic upbringing.

SOS Village is a place where children without parental care, or who are at risk of losing parental care, are kept to be given quality, family-like and community-based care.
