No fewer than 30 underserved women in Imo State received business equipment to support their enterprises at the 2026 August Meeting in Owerri.
The initiative was organised by Three Crowns Milk, a brand of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, as part of activities aimed at promoting women’s well-being, economic resilience and healthier living.
The August Meeting, one of the major cultural gatherings in South-East Nigeria, brings together women from different communities for networking, community development, empowerment and social interaction.
Held on August 15, at Umuorii Field beside Umuorii Women Hall, St Michael Catholic Church, Umuorii, Owerri, the event attracted women from 10 communities, including Umualum, Umuorii, Umuoba, Okwu, Owalla, Owaelu, Umunahu, Orji, Amakohia and Akwakuma.
Beyond the cultural celebration, the event featured sessions and activities focused on health, finance and agriculture, as well as games, product sampling and education on nutrition.
The empowerment programme was one of the major highlights of the event, with 30 underserved women receiving equipment to help them start or improve their businesses.
The initiative, according to the organisers, was designed to provide women with practical resources and knowledge to improve their livelihoods while strengthening their capacity to support their families.

The event was attended by representatives of the First Lady of Imo State, Mrs Chioma Uzodimma; the Managing Director, Anambra Imo River Basin Development Authority, as well as actress and influencer, Ebelle Okaro.
Speaking at the event, Marketing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, Maureen Ifada, said the company remained committed to creating platforms that celebrate and empower mothers.

Ifada said the August Meeting provided an opportunity for the company to connect with women around culture, community and wellness.
Also speaking, Marketing Manager, Three Crowns Milk, Chioma Otisi-Igwe, said supporting mothers should go beyond providing good nutrition.

Otisi-Igwe added that the brand was proud to use the August Meeting to celebrate women, promote healthier living and equip them with practical tools to improve their well-being and economic resilience.
