President Bola Tinubu has officially forwarded the name of Bernard Doro from Plateau State to the Senate for confirmation as a minister.
The nomination comes after Nentawe Yilwatda’s election as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in July, vacating his ministerial role in Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Doro, born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, brings over two decades of rich experience, spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management and strategic leadership in both the UK and Nigeria.
His academic background includes degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA concentrating on IT-driven business strategy and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. He is qualified as an Independent Prescriber and serves as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the NHS, having worked in urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices and hospital environments.
In addition, Doro has been active in youth mentorship and social impact programmes both internationally and in local Nigerian communities.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Dr. Bernard Doro’s multidisciplinary expertise and leadership in healthcare and community engagement make him an excellent candidate to serve Nigeria at the ministerial level.
His nomination awaits confirmation by the Senate.
