Development Control begins demolition of 30 houses on Abuja Ring Road 3 corridor

The Department of Development Control of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced the demolition of about 30 buildings obstructing the Right of Way of the Ring Road 3 corridor in Karsana District, Abuja.

The exercise is being carried out in compliance with the directive of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, issued on August 20 during an inspection of ongoing road projects in the area.

Wike had ordered the immediate demolition of the structures after being informed that they were located within the corridor reserved for the Ring Road 3 interchange and associated infrastructure under the Abuja Master Plan.

“We’ll have to demolish this right now. Demolish the building down,” the minister ordered.

The affected corridor forms part of the planned road infrastructure linking Karsana, Gwarinpa, Kubwa and the Airport Road axis.

The demolition is aimed at clearing the Right of Way and ensuring uninterrupted construction of the Ring Road 3 project.
