Political stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State have endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for re-election in the 2027 general election.

Stakeholders made the endorsement from the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District during a meeting in Ikot Ekpene, where they reviewed the political situation in the state and assessed the performance of the three leaders.

The stakeholders resolved to support Tinubu for a second presidential term, Akpabio for another term as senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West, and Eno for a second term as governor.

The resolution was contained in a communique read by the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Unyime Idem. It was adopted through a voice vote following a motion moved by Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien and seconded by Hon. Iboro Ekanem.

“After reviewing the political situation and assessing the contributions and performance of the leaders and representatives, the stakeholders resolved to endorse them for another term in office in the 2027 general elections,” the communique stated.

The endorsement cuts across party lines, with the state PDP Chairman, Aniekan Akpan, and other opposition politicians participating in the meeting alongside APC members.

Reacting to the development, Akpabio attributed the growing political cooperation in the state to what he described as the peaceful atmosphere in Akwa Ibom.

“The peace in the state has finally led to the opposition parties joining to declare that they all stand on the mandate of Mr President,” he said.

The Senate President described the endorsement as evidence of political unity in the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District and expressed confidence that the support would translate into votes during the 2027 election.

“We are very happy with this grand endorsement of Mr President, myself and our governor. It shows that there is unity in this state, particularly in Akwa Ibom North-west Senatorial District,” Akpabio said.

He further assured Tinubu and Eno of strong support from the district, saying the endorsement would be demonstrated at the polls.

“This support and endorsement would be demonstrated on election day. I can assure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno that the people of this district will give them 100 per cent of the votes,” he added.

The meeting was also attended by prominent figures, including former Minister of Petroleum Resources Don Etiebet, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Udom Ekpoudom, and Senators Aloysius Etuk, Emmanuel Ibokessien and Chris Ekpenyong.

The cross-party endorsement comes as political parties and their stakeholders intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
