Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Audu Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most visionary leaders, whose contributions to food security have left an indelible mark on the nation’s development.

Vice President Kashim Shettima led a delegation on behalf of President Bola Tinubu to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman, who passed away peacefully on Saturday at the age of 78. The visit underscored the government’s recognition of Ogbeh’s pivotal role in transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

“We have not just lost a former minister; we have lost an irreplaceable institution, whose vision and pragmatic approach to agricultural development transformed the landscape of our farming communities,” Shettima said.

He praised Ogbeh’s legacy as a transformational leader, whose dedication to agricultural renaissance affected millions of farming families and transcended political and regional divides.

According to Shettima, Ogbeh’s unwavering commitment to rural development and food security offers a lasting blueprint for sustainable agricultural progress in Nigeria.

“We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the enduring example he set. His legacy of integrity, service and dedication to our nation will continue to guide our agricultural transformation efforts,” the Vice President noted.

Praying for the repose of the late minister’s soul, Shettima asked for Allah’s forgiveness and blessings for Ogbeh, while offering solace to his family, the people of Benue State and the entire nation.
