Global soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo is taking his massive online presence to YouTube with the launch of his channel, “UR.”
With about a billion followers across social media, Ronaldo is already the most followed person in the world. His goal with the channel is to engage fans more deeply.
The new YouTube channel already boasts 5.4 million subscribers (as of this report).
Within hours of its launch, “UR” smashed records, surpassing 1 million subscribers in a mere 1 hour and 29 minutes – the fastest any channel in YouTube history has reached that milestone.
“UR” will provide a glimpse into Ronaldo’s life away from soccer, encompassing his love of the game, his family, his well-being, his business endeavours, and more. In addition, the channel will host interviews with notable visitors, offering exclusive perspectives into the lives of well-known sportsmen.
“I have always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with fans on social media, and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so,” Ronaldo shared. “They will learn more about me, my family, and my views on many different subjects.”
32 trophies, five UEFA Champions League crowns, five Ballon d’Or awards, and a record-tying three UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Awards are just a few of the many honours that Ronaldo’s spectacular career has collected. Both the Portuguese national team and Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia are now captained by him.
Ronaldo’s YouTube debut proves yet again his unparalleled ability to capture a global audience.
