A large number of eminent personalities trooped out to the Adamo area of Ikorodu Lagos on Sunday, August 4 2024.

The event was to honour the memories of the late Alhaja Wulemot Abike Aderemi, mother of Mr Kehinde Aderemi, Special Assistant on Media to the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams.
It was the eighth-day Fidau prayer for the deceased who recently passed on in Lagos. She was 86. The guest lecturer, Sheik Abdul Afeez Zaazili Oniwiridi restated the need for the guests at the event to dedicate themselves to Almighty Allah. He said the late Alhaja Abike Aderemi, in her life was a devoted Muslim that dedicated her life to the worship of Allah.
The cleric stated also that the deceased lost her husband about 37 years ago, but was able to raise her children well, and teaching them valuable lessons of life.
Quoting from the Holy Quran, Sheik Zaazili also admonished all the guests present at the event to be closer to Allah, saying life is nothing without God.
“Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we will return. While on this planet earth, we must strive to dedicate our lives to Allah as that is the only way to impact the lives of others positively”.
Father of the day at the event and Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, eulogised the virtues of the late Alhaja Aderemi. The Yoruba generalissimo said the best thing to do in life is to impact lives, adding that the late Alhaja Aderemi did her best to build a great bond among her children, saying such great virtues were evident in the way they organized the Fidau Prayer for their late mother within eight days. Iba Gani urged the children to be united and see themselves as one big family so that they can continue to be of great help to one another.
His words: “I am happy that that mama lived an eventful life. She was a devoted Muslim whose life was a reflection of God’s grace.
“I advise all the children of the late Alhaja Aderemi to remain one and unite in navigating the ups and downs of this world together. They were united while mama was alive. They should remain even more united now that mama is no more. They should ensure they render supplications to mama once or twice in a year. May her soul continue to rest in peace. In his brief remarks at the event, Editor, Saturday Sun, Mr Tope Adeboboye, said it was heart-warming to witness the excitement and joy on display at the celebration of life of the matriarch of the Aderemi family of Oyo, Oyo State.
He urged the children of the deceased – Mrs Folshade Jimoh, Pastor Adebayo Aderemi, Alhaji.Kehinde Aderemi, Mrs Taiwo Jaiyeola and Mrs Rasheedat Mustapha – to learn from the good deeds of their illustrious mother.
“From the turnout of people at today’s event, it is evident that Alhaja lived a worthy life and I pray God to grant her soul eternal rest.”
Speaking about his late mother, Alhaji Kehinde Aderemi, a seasoned journalist, told the guests that the late Alhaja Abike Aderemi was a perfect illustration of a great mother.
Aderemi said the demise of his late mother was an irreparable loss, describing her as the family’s own ‘jewel of inestimable value’.
“I have lost the driver that drove me to this world. She lived a very meaningful life, teaching us the core values of life. She remains the best mother ever. “I will always cherish the great lessons she taught us. Her memories will linger on for the rest of my life,” he said.
While expressing gratitude to the guests, one of the deceased’s children, Pastor Adebayo Aderemi said though the notice for the Fidau prayers was short, it was gratifying that many still came for the event to pay their last respects to the late Alhaja Aderemi.
Also in attendance was Prof Kolawole Raheem, a seasoned environmentalist and Parakoyi Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland,.
Others were the Barejiiro Aare Onakakanfo, Chief Dauda Asikolaye, former Chief Press Secretary to the former governor of Ondo State, Chief Segun Smart Ajiboye, a notable Ikorodu-based businessman and socialite, Lateef Ganiyu Eleda, and others. Also in attendance were members of the 1988 set of St Peters UNA Primary School, Lagos, and other friends of the family. They include media expert and journalist, Mr. Bola Badmus, who represented the editor of Nigerian Tribune, Mr Lukman Olabiyi, Mr Remi Adefulu, Bayo Olaosebikan of the African Independent Television (AIT), prominent broadcaster, Mr Yomi Mate (Ifankaleluya), popular Yoruba comedian, Pa Ojoge, Special Assistant on Special Duties, office of the Aareonakakanfo, Prince Samson Oseni, Special Assistant, Mrs Tolu Ajibade, Special Assistant on Domestic Matters, Mr Tawaliu Adams, Chief Ola Matemi, Mr Duro Oke, Comrade Ramon, Comrade Ganiyu Ayinla and other members of the National Coordinating Council (NCC) of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), among others.
