Benue State Police Command has arrested 40 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers, recovering dangerous weapons from their hideouts.
Commissioner of Police, Mr Okoro Julius Alawari, said: “Since we declared war against criminals, we have dealt with them. The hoodlums are relocating out of the state.
“Commander, Operation Zenda, CSP Justine Gberindyer, with his operatives arrested 10 suspected armed robbers. They came from a neighbouring state. We raided all their hideouts and recovered dangerous weapons from them.
“The operatives rescued five kidnap victims and arrested 10 suspects. They operated along Otukpo-Enugu. We recovered pump action gun, magazine and AK47 rifles.
“Operatives, vigilance group and hunters raided some communities where they are flashpoints. We raided their hideouts. We have good relationship with the people to imbibe community policing.
“Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Olukayode Egbetokun, emphasised commitment, professionalism selflessness and service to humanity.
“New operational strategies, training and retraining of personnel should be paramount to enhance tactical engagement. The IGP promised to improve the welfare personnel.
“There will be a robust and effective human and technical intelligence gathering process to enhance the capacity of personnel.”
