Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan has marked her third anniversary in the Senate with the distribution of smart devices, including laptop computers, to selected secondary schools in Kogi Central, reaffirming her commitment to quality representation, educational advancement and human capital development.

A statement by her media office disclosed that the anniversary intervention, which held on Monday, November 2, 2026, saw the Senator visit OCSS Oboroke, Adavi Model Secondary School, Adavi Eba and Community Secondary School, Obangede, in Okehi Local Government Area, where students and school authorities received the educational devices.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, said the initiative was part of her commitment to ensuring that democratic dividends translated into tangible benefits for her constituents, particularly young people.

Speaking during the school visits, the Senator said her understanding of representation went beyond occupying a legislative seat, stressing that it must be measured by its impact on the lives of the people.

“For me, the essence of representation is not simply to occupy an office or make speeches in the chambers of the National Assembly. It is about making a difference in the lives of the people who entrusted us with their mandate.

“Education remains one of the most important investments we can make in the future of our society. These smart devices are not merely computers; they are instruments of opportunity, learning, innovation and empowerment.

“I want our children to understand that their geographical location should never limit their access to knowledge or their aspirations in life,” she said.

The Senator urged the students to embrace digital literacy, remain committed to their studies and prepare themselves for the opportunities and responsibilities of an increasingly technology-driven world.

She also charged teachers and school administrators to ensure that the devices were properly maintained and deployed for their intended educational purposes.

Akpoti-Uduaghan said she remained conscious of the responsibility attached to the mandate given to her by the people of Kogi Central, pledging to sustain interventions aimed at improving their welfare.

“As we mark three years in office, I remain conscious of the responsibility that comes with the mandate you have given me. I will continue to do everything within my capacity to ensure that Kogi Central receives quality representation and benefits from meaningful developmental interventions,” she added.

At Community Secondary School, Obangede, the chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Shehu Sule, commended the Senator for extending her developmental interventions to the institution, describing her visit as a rare privilege.

In his address, Sule praised Akpoti-Uduaghan’s record of representation, commitment to education and contribution to human capital development.

“It is a great pleasure and rare honorary privilege to host not just a distinguished senator but the most popular, most outstanding and most celebrated female office holder in the contemporary Nigerian political space.

“We are therefore deeply blessed to be in your presence and be part of the history you have created through uncommon quality representation, provision of people-oriented projects, immense contribution to human capital development and great strides towards education,” he said.

The Governing Council chairman also commended the Senator for inspiring young people, particularly the girl-child, describing her leadership example as a source of encouragement to the younger generation.

He appealed for sustained collaboration between the Senator and the school, noting that the smart devices would strengthen its educational objectives and expose students to wider learning opportunities.

Sule also sought an opportunity to honour Akpoti-Uduaghan in recognition of her leadership and contribution to education.

“We seek your esteemed indulgence to seize this rare but golden opportunity to present you with an award in recognition of your outstanding leadership, commitment to education and inspiration to the girl-child and youth in Nigeria,” he said.

Three years after her emergence as the representative of Kogi Central in the Senate, Akpoti-Uduaghan has pursued constituency interventions covering education, healthcare, infrastructure, economic empowerment, agriculture and youth development.

In the education sector, her interventions have included support for learning infrastructure, educational materials, scholarships and other opportunities for students.

Her legislative engagements have also focused on expanding access to healthcare, including her advocacy for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ihima, through Senate Bill 521, aimed at improving access to specialist medical services for residents of Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.

The Senator has equally sustained advocacy for improved road infrastructure, potable water, school facilities, solar-powered public infrastructure and other community-based development projects.

Her constituency programmes have further extended to women’s economic advancement, youth empowerment, agricultural support and skills development.

Beyond constituency projects, Akpoti-Uduaghan has maintained a vocal position on public accountability, social justice, equitable resource allocation and responsive governance.

The distribution of smart devices to schools, according to her media office, underscores her determination to sustain people-oriented representation and ensure that the benefits of democratic governance reach communities at the grassroots.

The Senator reaffirmed her commitment to service, accountability and development, with particular emphasis on initiatives that will improve the social and economic well-being of Kogi Central and create opportunities for the next generation.
