The operatives of the Edo State Police command have arrested three suspects, Godwin Jatto 30 and Samuel Timothy 23, and one Abubakar Abdulrahaman for being in possession of fire arms in Edo state
The suspects were arrested by the firearms section of the State Criminal Investigation Department while acting on credible information in Esan Central and Etsako West local governments of the state respectively.
The Edo State command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident.
He said Jatto and Timothy were arrested at Illemhen Quarters, Ugbegun in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State for unlawful possession of fire arms.
According to the spokesperson, items recovered from them include one locally made pistol, one locally made revolver pistol four 9mm live Ammunition and charms.
Chidi also disclosed that one Abubakar Abdulrahman, 28, of Bieneja community, South-Ibie in Etsako Local Government Area of the state was arrested with one Para Pistol with breach No. TH10518 with 13 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
He said the suspect confessed that he stole the pistol and its ammunition from the house of a retired Colonel from the Nigeria Army who is currently based in United States of America on medical vacation.
He said the suspects made statements and confessed to the crime and that they will soon be charged to court
