A senior official in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated that former high-profile members, including Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, and ex-National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, remain expelled from the party following decisions made at its 2025 National Convention.

Prince Amb. (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, PDP Southwest Ex-Officio, issued a statement on Thursday accusing the expelled individuals and their associates of spreading misinformation by claiming continued membership in the opposition party.”

Their refusal to accept their expulsion and their attempt to create the impression that they still belong to the PDP is misleading, unnecessary, and contrary to established party records,” Ewenla said.

The expulsions were carried out at the PDP’s National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025, where a motion moved by party elder Chief Olabode Ibiyinka George was adopted by delegates.

The convention also elected new national officers, including Hon. Kabiru Taminu Turaki (SAN) as National Chairman and Amb. Taofeek Arapaja as National Secretary.

Ewenla emphasized that the expulsions followed due process through the party’s highest organs, with certificates of expulsion issued.

He noted that the individuals are free to align with other parties, pointing to their alleged support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu during previous elections.

On Anyanwu specifically, Ewenla stated that his earlier suspension under former Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Damagum was ratified, and he was replaced by Hon. Setonji Koshoedo as Acting National Secretary.

Notifications of these changes were accepted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which also monitored related party primaries without objection.

The PDP official highlighted compliance with electoral laws, including 21-day notifications to INEC for the national convention and recent state primaries.

“The convention was properly conducted, and all national officers were duly elected by accredited delegates,” he added.

Ewenla dismissed claims of a “Wike faction” within the PDP, asserting, “There is no faction. The individuals in question have been expelled, and the party has moved forward.”

In a pointed remark, he offered to personally clarify the legal procedures to Wike, citing his own Diploma in Law from Lagos State University.

“The PDP remains united, stable, and committed to its constitutional processes,” Ewenla concluded.

The statement comes amid ongoing internal disputes in the PDP, with rival claims to leadership and legal challenges persisting into 2026.

The party has maintained that the Ibadan convention and its outcomes are valid, while expelled members and allies have contested them.
