Chief Executive Officer of Brila Media Group, Debbie Izamoje Okolie, participated in discussions on the role of women in Africa’s sports industry at the SportsBiz Africa Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.
The third edition of the forum began on Wednesday, September 9, at the Kigali Convention Centre, bringing together sports executives, investors, policymakers, federation officials and media professionals from across Africa.
Okolie was a panellist at a session titled “Women Powering Africa’s Sports Economy,” which examined the participation of women in sports leadership, business, media and other areas of the industry.
The discussion focused on the opportunities and challenges facing women across the sports value chain, including leadership, commercial activities, media, grassroots development and decision-making.
The opening programme also featured a ministerial roundtable titled “The Link Between Business and Sport in Service of Africa’s Development,” which examined the relationship between sports and economic development on the continent.
The 2026 forum is also addressing issues including sports business and investment, policy and governance, media and broadcasting, technology, talent development and esports.
The event is scheduled to run until September 11 at the Kigali Convention Centre, with participants from different sectors of Africa’s sports industry.
