Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has said his administration will continue to award major construction projects to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc as part of a wider strategy to expand infrastructure, create jobs, and strengthen economic opportunities across the state.
He made the pledge on Monday while speaking with construction workers at the Julius Berger project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, stressing that infrastructure development remains central to his government’s response to unemployment and economic hardship.
According to him, the partnership with reputable contractors is deliberate, aimed at ensuring quality delivery of projects while also maximising job opportunities for youths across Delta State. He noted that too many young people are being discouraged by limited opportunities, adding that government must intentionally intervene through sustained capital projects that directly put people to work.
“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited. That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community,” he said.
Oborevwori commended construction workers and contractors handling projects across the state for their commitment, describing them as critical contributors to community development and economic growth.

He reaffirmed that his administration will deepen collaboration with Julius Berger in executing key infrastructure projects, particularly in the Warri and Effurun axis.
He disclosed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout to Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) corridor has already been awarded to Julius Berger, in line with plans to modernise infrastructure within the Warri–Effurun metropolitan area. He added that several other strategic projects are underway, including roads and bridges designed to improve connectivity and stimulate commerce.
The Governor also restated his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects across the state, including the Trans Warri–Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project, which will be commissioned after the completion of the Ubeji–Ifie Road. He said the government remains focused on ensuring that no critical project is abandoned, stressing that infrastructure delivery is key to long-term development.
Oborevwori further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing economic reforms that have improved revenue inflows to states, enabling them to fund infrastructure projects and meet salary obligations more efficiently. He said the reforms are already reflecting in Delta State’s ability to execute more capital-intensive projects.
He assured residents that his administration remains committed to development that directly impacts livelihoods, noting that ongoing investments in roads, bridges, and urban renewal projects are designed to create jobs and stimulate economic activity across communities. He also thanked workers and residents for their continued support, expressing confidence that the ongoing infrastructure push will leave a lasting legacy of growth and transformation in the state.
