…Solicits Partnership With NDDC, Other Stakeholders On Federal Roads Rehabilitation In Region.
Ben Dunno, Warri
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed concerns over the poor state of roads across the Niger Delta region solicited the partnership of all the stakeholders, particularly the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to join hands the state government in finding solutions to the deplorable roads.
The Governor who noted that it was borne out of concerns on the plights of motorists plying the ever busy Warri-Sapele-Benin highway that prompted his decision to carry out the rehabilitation of the federal road early this week, noted that the wellbeing of the residents was very key in his opting to fix the state end of the dilapidated roads.
Speaking during the official inauguration of the new NDDC state office in Edjeba, Warri, which had been under construction since 2013, Oborevwori said just like the Warri-Sapele-Benin highway, there are still many other roads all over the state and across the Niger-Delta seeking for attention, inorder to bring succor to the people of the region.
While disclosing that his government had already approved ₦35.7 billion for its reconstruction, being a critical artery connecting Delta to Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River states, the governor urged the interventionist agency to seek ways of possible synergy with the state governments in the region to embark on massive federal roads rehabilitation.
He commended NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for his leadership and described the new office as a mark of “institutional stability and renewed purpose.”
