North Korea has seen several suspected new COVID-19 cases two weeks after it declared that it had eradicated coronavirus.
Four cases of fever occurred on the border with China this week that could be traced back to the malignant epidemic in Ryanggang Province, state media reported on Thursday.
It cited the emergency epidemic prevention headquarters.
“Malignant epidemic’’ is how North Korea refers to the pandemic.
The largely isolated country officially confirmed infections with the coronavirus for the first time in mid-May and declared an epidemic emergency.
It is unclear how many infections there have actually been in the country.
According to experts, North Korea does not have sufficient testing capacities.
Before the latest suspected cases, no new fever cases had been reported from North Korea for almost two weeks.
