The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has confirmed that elections did not hold in some polling units in two Local Government Areas, in Benue State.
The INEC Public Affairs Officers, Terkaa Andyar, stated this while speaking to our correspondent in Makurdi on Sunday.
Andyar who noted that elections couldn’t take place in some polling units in Benue said: “I do know that in Konshisha, there were issues in some polling units and elections couldn’t hold.
“In some areas, materials for some polling units, were not found and in some other places, there were destruction of elections materials like in Apa LG.”
Asked if elections would hold there today, the INEC officer said the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC), Professor Sam Egwu, is working on it.
“The Commissioner is working on it because he needs to aggregate all the places and escalate it to the headquarters before action would be taken but hopefully today.”
As at 10am on Sunday, Terkaa said collation of results are ongoing at various levels in the Local Government Areas.
The process has to start from the wards to the local governments to constituency levels, before the state level.
He further stated that the BVAS has worked perfectly well in some places but stated that in some places, it gave the operators certain issues. “But if you want to aggregate it by way of percentage of it’s workability, it is up to 75 percent in areas it was used”, he said.
