The Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Agency has urged stakeholders across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas to collaborate with the state government to ensure their communities receive necessary social amenities.

The Sun reports that the Agency commenced a Data Advocacy Roundtable Discussion with local government stakeholders on Wednesday in the Nassarawa-Eggon and Doma LGAs.

Speaking on Thursday after the discussions in the Awe, Obi, and Keana LGAs, the Director General of the Agency, Habiba Balarabe Suleiman, emphasized the importance of stakeholders coming together to address community concerns.

She pledged the Nasarawa State Government’s commitment to partnering with communities lacking amenities such as schools, healthcare centers, potable water, markets, housing, and toilet facilities.

Explaining the objectives of the roundtable, Suleiman said it aimed to address complex Human Capital Development (HCD) issues, discuss policy frameworks, engage diverse stakeholders, and promote inclusivity in development initiatives.

“The African continent continues to lag in HCD compared to other regions due to numerous challenges, particularly in vulnerable populations and conflict-affected areas,” Suleiman stated.

She stressed the need for sustained collaborative efforts to accelerate HCD in Nigeria and Africa, highlighting advocacy as a pathway to achieving this goal.

Suleiman urged stakeholders to align with the HCD agency’s agenda to accelerate development and ensure all citizens reach their full potential.

Expressing gratitude to Africa Human Capital Development Plus for funding the project, Suleiman outlined the agency’s six thematic areas: Health and Nutrition; Education; Labour Force Participation; Youth; Social Development; and Local Government and Community Development.

“For each of our six thematic areas, we have objectives addressing the issues hindering optimal performance. We hope our efforts will accelerate economic growth and development,” she added. “We aim to have a better educated and healthier population by 2030.”

The Executive Chairman of Awe LGA, Usman Umar, expressed gratitude to the state government for organizing the roundtable discussion to support LGA communities in their development efforts.

“I have learned a lot about the HCD agency’s efforts in its six thematic areas. I believe other stakeholders at the roundtable also gained insights to help their communities develop,” Umar said. “The people of Awe LGA are happy with this development, and we pledge our support to the agency’s programs.”

Executive Chairman of Obi LGA, Joshua Ozhe Yekpowudu, thanked the HCD Agency for the program and committed to enlightening his community about the agency’s initiatives to enable them to benefit from state government support.

The Sun gathered that stakeholders at the roundtable called for collective support to help the state’s HCD Agency achieve its goals for the benefit of all residents.
