Enugu State-born actress, producer, filmmaker, and director, Chinenye Ulaegbu has conquered many facets of Nollywood.

Despite her versatility in the industry, the rising star has made it clear that there are certain lines she will never cross, no matter how enticing the offer is.

In a recent chat with Saturday Sun, Ulaegbu shared insights into her career, values, and the journey that brought her to the limelight. When asked about the kinds of roles she would reject, she said: “The number one thing that can make me reject a role is if I don’t like the story. To me, the story is everything—I must like it. Secondly, if the pay is poor, I can reject a role if their offer is way below my current worth. But I can reconsider it, if I love the story. However, I will never accept a role where nudity is used as a theme.”

The actress’ journey into Nollywood didn’t come without challenges. She recounted how her first exposure to the industry came through a friend, Debbie Nebo, who introduced her to a family contact. This led to her debut in the movie, Stone of Justice, where she shared the screen with reputable actors.

“I didn’t understand anything that was going on during production. I was lost amidst professional actors who knew what they were doing. I could tell the director wasn’t so impressed. This experience sparked my decision to enroll in film school, where I learned the basic techniques of acting and honed my craft.”

As a beautiful actress, Ulaegbu’s interactions with male fans primarily happen online, “Because I’m always busy, I hardly have time for meet-and-greets, so I only deal with most fans online. My male fans are actually respectful—they only fantasize about making me their wife or woman. They’re not aggressive towards me at all,” she shared.
