Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has become the first African artiste to surpass 12 billion streams on Spotify across all credits, setting another milestone for African music on the global streaming platform.
The achievement was announced on Monday by WizStatz, a music statistics account on X, which tracks the singer’s streaming performance.
In its post, the account tagged Wizkid’s official handle and wrote, “WIZKID (@wizkidayo) becomes the first African Artist to surpass 12 Billion Streams On Spotify Across All Credits.”
The figure covers songs released by Wizkid as a lead artiste, as well as collaborations and guest appearances on tracks by other musicians.
The latest milestone follows another streaming record set by the singer in May 2026, when he became the first African artiste to reach 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits.
Wizkid is one of Nigeria’s internationally recognised music stars, with collaborations involving artistes from different countries and genres helping to expand the reach of his music.
