Igbo National Union World-wide (INU-W) has called on Ndigbo residing in Lagos to return to the South East and establish their businesses since the Lagos State Government through their selective demolitions no longer want them in the state.
In a statement signed by Austin -Mary Ndukwu, Admin Secretary of the group, INU-W recalled that at the wake of the demolitions, it gave the Lagos State Government what it described as a 30-day olive branch, to pacify the Igbo traders whose shops and properties were demolished.
INU-W regretted that at the expiration of the period no meaningful peaceful dialogue and gratification have been extended to those affected by the illegal demolitions carried out by the Sanwo-Olu administration in Lagos.
“On the contrary, reports of more demolitions are still ongoing coupled with mysterious and uninvestigated fire outbreaks in many markets where Ndigbo are in the majority.
INU-W alerted that the ongoing demolitions and destructions which it said was targeted at Ndigbo is a sign by the Yoruba nation to our people to vacate their region.

“Therefore, Igbo National Union World-wide having examined the lopsidedness with which the demolitions were being carried out and the stoic silence of the federal government and Yoruba elites. Coupled with series of hateful comments/actions of some Yoruba persons, there’s therefore no gainsaying the fact the Igbo are no longer wanted in Lagos.
“It has now come to the open, the decades of sethed hatred and animosity against Ndigbo by Yoruba ethnic nationality since independence and the present unprovoked hatred has been taken to another level with more provocations, harassment, killings and wanton destruction of Igbo lives and properties in Yoruba land.”
INU-W said to avoid a repeat of the 1966 pogrom and the 1993 June 12 attacks on Ndigbo (christened Oso Abiola), Lagos, it has mapped out a gradual phased exit and relocation of Igbo out of Lagos back to the East and other safer territories.
“This phased withdrawal begins from this December 2025 and runs through February 2027. Igbo National Union World-wide will notify our people on how the process will be carried out through our people’s well organized State and Town Unions’ associations both here in Igbo land, Lagos State and those States in Nigeria where we feel our people are not safe”, the statement added.
It called on South East Governor to create enabling business environment that will accommodate those returning.
